The Four Agreements And Recovery

16:12 18.12.2020 Napsal: petr.stibor

During healing, it is important to have clear boundaries and communicate, so think or ask for clarification before applying meaning to something. We assume that we know what someone else thinks or feels, and we also make assumptions about our own abilities, which makes us disappointing if we do not meet those expectations. At BRC Recovery, we take a holistic approach to addiction recovery by implementing a series of traditional and non-traditional practices to better connect our residents to the principles of healing life. That`s why we include „The Four Accords“ by Don Miguel Rusz in our programming. The four agreements explain what we think of our childhood experience. The things that have been told to us play a role in what we believe in ourselves and in how we perceive others with whom we are connected. These beliefs that Ruiz declares are agreements we make with ourselves. Many of us who are in full recovery have already made negative agreements with ourselves because they think we are worthless and we are failing. Your thoughts as a child and what you are made to believe play a big role in your actions later in life, which is why childhood experiences, traumas, family relationships are all subjects that are dealt with in drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Also, if you have already relapsed, you may have reached an agreement with yourself, that you are destined to suffer forever, which is simply not true. Relapse is not a sign of failure; It`s part of the recovery. In the first part of this 2-part video, we learn how the „domestication“ of men and how all the rules and values of our family and society are imposed on us by a system of punishment and reward.

As young children, our true nature is to love and be happy, to explore and enjoy life; We are absolutely authentic. But then we learn to be what others think we should, and because it`s not normal that we are who we are, we start pretending we`re not what we`re not. When we are teenagers, we have learned to judge ourselves, to punish ourselves and to reward ourselves after agreements that we have never chosen. The four agreements help us break self-limitation agreements and replace them with agreements that bring us freedom, happiness and love. To this end, Ruiz presents four new agreements that, if adopted, change our whole vision and transform what might look like a personal hell of serenity and freedom. Living life to the fullest and having gratitude for the gifts in your life will allow you to live free from fear and open your mind, body and soul to begin your healing process. Practicing the four chords in our lives is part of our process of growth and change. We can transform our reality for the better by combining agreements on a daily basis in order to achieve a calmer way of life.
